Victory Column

Victory Column

This monument was built in 1873 to commemorate several Prussian victories over its neighbors – the Netherlands, Austria and France – in 3 separate wars. It used to be in front of the Reichstag, but the Nazis moved it to its current location in 1938 as part of the plans for making the city the World Capital. This actually probably saved the monument from total destruction since the area around the Reichstag was heavily damaged.
